Lakeland Art Gallery - Grasmere

Lakeland Art Gallery is situated in the heart of the English Lake District in Grasmere Village, an area immortalised by the poetry of William Wordsworth. Shortly after moving to Dove Cottage he wrote:-

And now ‘tis mine for life, dear Vale

Beloved Grasmere(let the wandering streams

Take up, the cloud-capt hills repeat, the Name),

One of thy lowly Dwellings is my Home.

The natural beauty of the Lake District attracts people from all over Britain and the World who wish to escape from the stress of modern life, walk the fells, seek out its wealth of historical and literary associations or just relax and enjoy the stunning scenery.

In a world of almost limitless choice, the range of frames available is no exception.

There are literally thousands of different mouldings available from very ornate gilt ones to minimalist bare wood. To make life simple we have selected a core range of 30 different frames in a variety of styles and colours.

These can be combined with different mounts to give a wide range of options.

Our virtual framing feature on the website is a very useful tool for previewing the appearance of a print or original painting once framed.

If you would like a frame not available in our selection or perhaps you would like a frame to match one you already have at home, we can most likely obtain it for you.

There is a huge selection of frames viewable at www.arquadia.co.uk. Please contact us with the code number of the frame you would like.

Conservation and Recycling

Being situated in National Park we are particularly conscious our impact on the environment. We have given consideration to the need to recycle waste and in conjunction with the Grasmere Traders Association we recycle all the waste cardboard, glass and paper.

The mountboard itself is made from recycled paper.

The wood for the frame mouldings is obtained from companies who operate in accordance with the principles of good forest management, with regard to sustainability and conservation.

Many of the lights in the Gallery are low energy spotlights which give an white light ideal for viewing art whilst also reducing our demand for electricity.
